Purple Emperor was developed at Davis Farms of Oregon, breeders that specialize in producing CBD rich varieties of industrial hemp seed. Their genetics are proven and selected for production based on several genetic and performance factors. These traits were acquired throughout an extensive research and development process, and selected over many cycles since Davis Farms was established in 2015.
The founder of the company, Jeremy Klettke, spent decades studying and researching the cannabis plant while traveling across several nations. During his time in Europe, Jeremy was also presented opportunities to work with the cannabis plant in Holland and the Czech Republic. In 2007 after moving back to the US he became involved with the medical cannabis program in Oregon. This is where the early stages of Davis Farms became known as the primary producer for high quality 1:1, 2:1, 10:1, and 20:1 CBD to THC ratio type II cannabis plants for medical patients.
A true pioneer in the industry, Jeremy recognized early on the importance of the endogenous cannabinoid system and the way it is impacted by the entourage of compounds and terpenoids within the plant. In late 2015, Davis Farms primary focus to develop cannabis chemotypes specifically for CBD (cannabidiol) production, while retaining significant terpene expressions. With the center of the attention being the development of varieties containing little detectable THC for compliance with the re-emerging industrial hemp industry in the United States.
